0870 Outpayments cease and termination charges introduced. 

OFCOM Announcement - New Legislation from 1st August.

Intent on re-building confidence in Non-Geographic Numbers, OFCOM have announced that inbound calls to 0870 numbers must be charged at the same or less than calls to geographic numbers (starting with 01 & 02) with effect from 1st August 2009.

0870 USERS MUST ACT NOW TO AVOID OR MINIMISE COSTS

From 1st August there will be no further revenue share paid to organisations receiving calls delivered from 0870 numbers. Conversely calls delivered from 0870 numbers will be chargeable on the recipient and some providers will charge up to 2.75 ppm.

WE CAN HELP…..If you publish 0870 numbers you have a choice:

Leave the 0870 in place with another provider and accept the new charges or…………

Migrate the 0870 to MPS and we will charge 1.25 ppm to deliver the calls or cease the number for you and set up a Changed Number Announcement at a fixed price of £35.00 per month and/or……

Set up new Non Geographic Numbers with prefixes such as 0845, 0844 and/or 0871 to continue with revenue-sharing.

New numbers can run in parallel with existing 0870 numbers whilst promotion of the new numbers takes place or, in some cases, a Changed Number Announcement can be set up following the cessation of the 0870.
