MPS launches new mobile brand and makes corporate mobile tariffs available to all MPS customers.

Line rental charges start at £1.35 per connection per month.

The MPS Mobile Network utilises multiple network infrastructure from 3, Orange and T Mobile providing 99% coverage of the UK population.

MPS has launched its own MPS Mobile Corporate User brand initially comprising a range of Pay As You Use tariffs designed to make a real impact in the corporate sector where this type of tariff is already preferred but also in the SME space which is currently dominated by bundled tariffs.

In recent years Mobile Airtime Providers have promoted bundled tariffs to SME’s to the extent that bundles have become the accepted tariff type in this sector; to the benefit of the Airtime Providers and the detriment of customers in many cases.

We believe that most bundles are under-utilised and, as such, many customers are paying for services they are not using. Conversely, where a user makes calls outside the bundled allowance then charges are penal.

Providers have argued that customers want bundles because they are easy to understand and provide fixed monthly cost. Providers have been successful in promoting the perceived importance of these benefits but at what cost to the customer?

It’s interesting to note that most corporates have avoided bundles electing, instead, to negotiate pay as you use agreements demanding competitive pence per minute rates, billed on a pence per second basis with no minimum call charges or call set up fees.
